The following is a list of the more common machining operations we offer.

Cleaning

This is where all of our projects start. First, engines and subassemblies (such as cylinder heads) are disassembled. Iron components are soaked in our hot tank, usually overnight and aluminum components are cleaned in our spray cabinet. Once this initial cleaning is complete, smaller items (cylinder heads included) are glass bead blasted, leaving everything ready for magnaflux or dye penetrant inspection.

Inspection

After initial cleaning, this is an important step in our rebuilding procedure. All crankshafts, cylinder heads and blocks are subject to a thorough crack detection process. If the component passes this step, the process can continue with a measurement of all clearances. Once this is complete, we are ready to start machining.

Cylinder Heads

From all out race heads to dealership warranty repair, our cylinder head department handles it. In addition to the standard services such as multi-angle valve jobs, valve guide replacement, valve seat installation and resurfacing; we also offer specialized services such as porting and polishing, flow bench testing, screw-in rocker stud & guide plate installation, oversize valve installation, valve back-cutting, conversion to PC valve seals, etc.

Connecting Rods and Pistons

Connecting rods are inspected for alignment and twist, then resized (and re-bushed if applicable). Once rebuilt, they can then be sent to the balancing department or have the new pistons installed on them. Other services available include installation of new rod bolts (such as ARP), piston pin fitment (floating or pressed). Pistons can be fly-cut for valve clearance if necessary.

Cylinder Blocks

Blocks are bored and honed on our Sunnen CV616 Power Bore honing machine. We are capable of honing to any surface finish required, depending on use of the engine, ring type, etc. Other services in the Block Department include: Installation of cylinder sleeves, alignboring (mains, cam tunnel, balance shaft tunnel), decking (square decking available), bore/hone with torque plates, clearance for stroker applications, cam bearing installation, installation of steel splayed caps, etc

Crankshafts

Crankshafts are reconditioned on our precision Schou crank grinder, maintaining better than original journal size and radius. Other than standard regrinding and polishing, we can offset grind, weld to repair worn trust, etc.

Resurfacing

Our Peterson Wet-Surface Grinder leaves a much better surface finish than the dry-type milling machines many shops use. We can resurface to any required surface finish on cylinder heads, blocks, intake and exhaust manifolds, flywheels, etc. Cylinder heads can be milled to reduce combustion chamber volume, blocks can be milled for specific piston to deck height, etc.

Balancing

Our Balancing Department uses Pro-Bal electronic balancing equipment and we can balance all automotive rotating assemblies. You will be provided with a balance card containing all balance information for future reference.

Engine Assembly

After all machining operations have been completed and parts sourced, its time for assembly. If we assemble your engine, rest assured all clearances will first be re-checked prior to final assembly. All engine assembly takes place in a separate room to isolate the cleaned engine from the rest of the shop. "Blueprinted" is a term that gets thrown around a lot, instead we simply believe that there is the right way to do things, then all the other ways... We do things the right way.
